Capcom has released a spec-sheet for the upcoming Resident Evil Village showing expected resolution and frame rates on consoles and PC, bringing the experience on both platforms closer than before.

Mid-gen Console Upgrade Brought Them Closer to PCs

One of the major upsides of getting a console used to be that it was simple. You just get the box, plug it into your TV, put it in the disk drive (or download), and enjoy the game. Unlike PC, console gamers didn’t need to worry about whether their system will support the game, and couldn’t make any tweaks to improve performance/image quality.

This has slowly changed throughout the years…

The entire range of mobile CPUs in Intel’s 12th gen Alder Lake lineup has been leaked. According to the leak, Intel is planning to introduce the mobile lineup under 3 main categories — Alder Lake-M, Alder Lake-P and Alder Lake-S. All 3 categories will have different power targets and use cases, with different core structures, similar to the current i3, i5 and i7 lineup. …

Watch Dogs Legion is the first open-world Ubisoft title to support ray tracing, so what do you need to do to achieve good performance? Well, even a baseline RTX 2060 can potentially outperform the next-gen consoles, but DLSS is essential to really push for 60 FPS. If you instead would like to watch some live gameplay going through different settings, then click here for my first impressions.

We’ve been playing around with the game for a few days now and the in-game benchmark has been extremely helpful. …

NVIDIA has just announced 12 more games that will be getting RTX (ray tracing) support in the near future. While we knew that ray tracing would start getting more attention after the launch of the next-gen consoles, it looks like the effect has already started!

Here are all the games ( and more here) that will support ray tracing by the time Xbox Series X and PS5 launch:

This increases the number of games with RT support considerably, and it doesn’t even include the next-gen updates to existing games like The Witcher 3!

Ray Tracing Rennaisance

When NVIDIA first brought ray tracing to…

AMD’s upcoming RDNA 2-powered Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards will include ray tracing capabilities, but what about a DLSS-like feature? Does AMD need one? Yes, it does.

DLSS, standing for Deep Learning Super Sampling, is an AI technique used by the Tensor cores present in RTX cards. With this, the image is rendered at a lower than native resolution and then upscaled. The idea here is that by rendering the lower res image, you gain more performance while upscaling it to preserve all the details. The first version of DLSS wasn’t what anyone would call a big success. …

Mafia Definitive Edition

Mafia, a classic game franchise, has a whole trilogy dedicated to its world and characters. However, while the second and third games in the franchise play and look fairly well for their age, it’s the first game which has been in dire need of a fresh coat of paint. Mafia: Definitive Edition certainly delivers that, by remaking an open-world period classic with top-notch visuals. However, its gameplay and performance don’t quite match the ambitions that Hangar 13 has for its story and characters.

While the Mafia is almost 2 decades old (time flies doesn’t it?), I feel like this remake…

After a long wait, AMD has finally revealed details about its upcoming Zen 3 (Ryzen 5000) CPUs. During the event, AMD CEO Lisa Su revealed details about the new Ryzen 7 5800X, 5900X, and more.

Ryzen 5000 CPU Lineup

The new lineup promises a 19% generational increase in IPC, which is the largest increase since the introduction of Zen. Contrary to recent rumors, AMD is targeting a November 5 release for all CPUs in the lineup. It looks like aside from higher clock speeds, AMD took another hat out of the Zen 2 XT refresh bag by not including any cooler here either.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X Side by Side

First Impressions on Xbox Series X’s backwards compatibility are now public, and it seems like Xbox has done a tremendous job on providing better performance on legacy games. Will the PlayStation 5 offer a similar backwards compatibility offering? More importantly, what kind of enhancements can we expect from it?

The initial preview coverage over Xbox’s backwards compatibility for (most) Xbox One, 360 and original Xbox titles are looking good. For the most part, legacy games which had an unlocked framerate or dynamic resolution settings will run at their highest fidelity/performance target on the Xbox Series X. …

Introducing the Luna Controller — Built For Cloud Gaming

When Capcom revealed that they were going to remake the original Resident Evil games, many fans were fairly skeptical. These are classic games that defined the survival horror genre, and no one wanted Capcom to degrade them in any way. Well, just like last year’s RE2 remake, the new, updated Resident Evil 3 makes another case for great remakes that respect the source material as well as update the core gameplay for a modern audience.

Like the original, RE3 takes a more action-oriented approach. That doesn’t mean that you won’t be solving puzzles or having a lot of eery downtimes…
